Director of Supply & Procurement

St. Louis, MO

About Plug

Plug is one of the fastest-growing ecommerce companies in St. Louis, backed by multiple Fortune 500 partners. We sell certified pre-owned smartphones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches, and accessories: a smarter, more affordable, and more sustainable alternative to buying new.

With 8M+ followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, we have built one of the largest and most engaged communities in tech. New York Times Wirecutter Best Experience. Responsible Recycler certified. Over one million pounds of e-waste diverted. We are not just a brand. We are a movement, and we are just getting started.

How We Work

Plug runs on ownership. We move fast, expect a lot, and give people the autonomy to match. No politics. No hand-holding. No ambiguity about what winning looks like. Every person here operates with a founder mindset: clear on the goal, accountable for the outcome, proud of the work.

If you want a front-row seat to building something that matters, this is the place. If you want a job where someone tells you exactly what to do every day, this isn't it.

The Role

Plug moves inventory at a pace that demands precision. We are looking for a Director of Supply & Procurement to own the engine that keeps our catalog stocked, our costs sharp, and our vendor relationships built to last.

This is not generic procurement. You are buying and selling certified pre-owned electronics in a secondary market where prices fluctuate weekly. You will manage a multi-million dollar inventory investment, and every dollar you spend needs to return margin within 60 days.

This is a strategic seat for someone who sees supply chain as a competitive advantage, not a back office.

What You'll Own

  • Develop and execute a procurement strategy aligned with growth and margin goals.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage vendor and supplier relationships.
  • Make buy/pass decisions on every lot and PO with real money on the line.
  • Build and maintain a pricing model by model, grade, storage, and channel.
  • Monitor secondary market pricing daily and adjust buy prices accordingly.
  • Allocate every device to the channel that maximizes margin (D2C, wholesale, partnerships).
  • Manage inventory aging and trigger markdowns before margin erodes.
  • Source new vendors to reduce concentration risk.
  • Run sourcing gap analysis: what we need vs. what we can supply.
  • Manage a multi-million dollar inventory investment with capital efficiency targets.
  • Hold vendors accountable for quality: handle disputes, credits, and the decision to keep buying when units don't grade as promised.
  • Build vendor scorecards: quality, OTD, pricing compliance, volume.
  • Build forecasting models and manage replenishment workflows.
  • Partner with Finance and Ops on COGS and margin.
  • Report weekly: units purchased, average cost, vendor performance, sourcing pipeline. Monthly: scorecards, cost trends, inventory turns, write-downs, channel allocation efficiency.

What You Need

  • 5+ years in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain in consumer electronics or wireless devices.
  • Experience buying and selling used or refurbished mobile devices at scale.
  • Deep knowledge of secondary market pricing dynamics.
  • Negotiation track record with measurable savings outcomes.
  • Comfort making fast buy/pass decisions in a market that moves daily.
  • Multi-channel inventory allocation experience.
  • Strong data literacy for spend analysis, margin modeling, supplier reporting.
  • Hands-on with NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Financial modeling and risk management experience.

Strong Advantage

  • High-growth ecommerce or consumer electronics environment.
  • CPO or secondary market supply chain.
  • Partner program fulfillment.
  • Capital-intensive inventory businesses where cash cycle is critical.

You'll Hate This Job If…

  • You want to delegate the buy/pass calls.
  • You're more comfortable in quarterly planning than daily price moves.
  • You want a perfect data warehouse before you'll commit to a forecast.
  • You see supply chain as cost center, not P&L lever.

The Bottom Line

If you've spent your career building procurement functions that are sharp, scalable, and strategically aligned to growth, Plug is where that work gets its biggest stage yet. Autonomy to build, visibility to lead, and the backing of a brand that's already changing how millions of people think about buying tech.
