Director of Marketing

St. Louis, MO

About Plug

Plug is one of the fastest-growing ecommerce companies in St. Louis, backed by multiple Fortune 500 partners. We sell certified pre-owned smartphones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches, and accessories: a smarter, more affordable, and more sustainable alternative to buying new.

With 8M+ followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, we have built one of the largest and most engaged communities in tech. New York Times Wirecutter Best Experience. Responsible Recycler certified. Over one million pounds of e-waste diverted. We are not just a brand. We are a movement, and we are just getting started.

How We Work

Plug runs on ownership. We move fast, expect a lot, and give people the autonomy to match. No politics. No hand-holding. No ambiguity about what winning looks like. Every person here operates with a founder mindset: clear on the goal, accountable for the outcome, proud of the work.

If you want a front-row seat to building something that matters, this is the place. If you want a job where someone tells you exactly what to do every day, this isn't it.

The Role

We are looking for a Director of Marketing who can take what we have built and turn it into a revenue machine. This is not a brand strategy seat: the CMO sets brand direction. You execute it, measure it, and scale it.

You will run paid media, email/SMS, the Shopify storefront, campaigns, and a 7-person content team. You are accountable for D2C revenue growth and you own the numbers that prove it. If you get energized by real products, real data, and real proof points, we want to meet you.

What You'll Own

  • Execute the brand strategy set by the CMO across every marketing channel.
  • Own paid acquisition across Meta, Google, and TikTok. Manage budget against ROAS and CAC targets.
  • Own Klaviyo end-to-end: flows (welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, winback, VIP), campaigns, segmentation, deliverability.
  • Own the Shopify storefront: product pages, collections, merchandising, promotions, checkout optimization.
  • Run the conversion funnel: A/B test PDPs, checkout, pricing display, trust badges.
  • Manage a 7-person content team (Content Manager + 6 creators across video, photo, social).
  • Plan and execute integrated campaigns: launches, seasonal promos, strategic initiatives.
  • Manage marketing budget against performance targets set with the CMO.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain on inventory availability for promo planning.
  • Establish KPIs, own reporting cadence, present performance to executive leadership.
  • Report weekly on spend, ROAS, CAC, conversion rate, email/SMS revenue, site traffic. Monthly on full marketing P&L, channel mix, LTV, funnel.

What You Need

  • 5+ years in ecommerce marketing with direct P&L responsibility.
  • Hands-on experience managing paid media across Meta, Google, and TikTok at $50K+/month spend.
  • Deep Klaviyo (or comparable) experience: flows, segmentation, deliverability.
  • Shopify expertise: merchandising, apps, checkout optimization.
  • Experience managing a content or creative team of 5+.
  • Decisions driven by ROAS, CAC, LTV, and conversion data: not gut.
  • Executive presence: confident in any room, with any audience.

Strong Advantage

  • Consumer tech or high-velocity DTC background.
  • Managed or grown a social-first brand with a large following.
  • SEO and organic growth fluency.
  • Founder-led or fast-scaling startup experience.

You'll Hate This Job If…

You need a deck and a committee before you can ship a test.

Your idea of marketing is brand decks, not LTV math.

You expect a fully built MarTech stack and a clean attribution model on day one.

You want to set strategy more than you want to execute it.

The Bottom Line

We are building something real in St. Louis. No corporate noise, no bloated org charts. Just a focused team that cares about the product, the mission, and the work. If you can look at a D2C business and immediately see where the revenue is hiding: and you have the skills to go get it: we want to talk.

Equal Opportunity

Plug is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
